Tonight at the St. Louis County Library Headquarters at 7 PM, we're very excited to have a reading and signing with Brunonia Barry, author of the wildly popular THE LACE READER, and she'll be here to discuss her new book, THE MAP OF TRUE PLACES.
If you can't make it, but you still want a personalized copy, call or come by the shop to pre-pay and make sure we can spell your name right.

T-Shirts
We got some new t-shirts in today, and I can tell they're going to be a popular item because both Shannon and Celia snapped one up as soon as they saw them. $25 each (less than what they cost online), and we've got lots of different ones - Slaughterhouse 5, Ayn Rand, etc. Come check them out. Super soft, too.
You may have seen them in GQ, Men's Health, Real Simple, Esquire, Daily Candy, or Vanity Fair.

Newsletter - FAQ's
Monday, May 24th we have TWO events - Charlie Higson at the St. Louis County Library Headquarters, and Dan Gutman at the Missouri History Museum. Both great authors for middle grade and young adult fiction. Both events start at 7 PM, and if you can't make it, you can always call us ahead of time and we'll get a copy signed for you.
With all of the events we've had lately, the same questions have popped up over and over again, so we tried to answer a few of them here. Feel free to get in touch with us anytime if you have questions about events.

Sharon Draper, OUT OF MY MIND
We are thrilled to have readings with Sharon Draper for not just one, but 2 nights in a row!
Tonight, Monday May 17, 7 PM at the University City Library. Here's the map.
Tomorrow, Tuesday May 18, 7 PM at the St. Louis Public Library, Buder Branch. Here's the map to that one.
The Book: Eleven-year-old Melody has a photographic memory. Her head is like a video camera that is always recording. Always. And there's no delete button. She's the smartest kid in her whole school--but no one knows it. Most people--her teachers and doctors included--don't think she's capable of learning, and up until recently her school days consisted of listening to the same preschool-level alphabet lessons again and again and again. If only she could speak up, if only she could tell people what she thinks and knows . . . but she can't, because Melody can't talk. She can't walk. She can't write. Being stuck inside her head is making Melody go out of her mind--that is, until she discovers something that will allow her to speak for the first time ever. At last Melody has a voice . . . but not everyone around her is ready to hear it. From multiple Coretta Scott King Award winner Sharon M. Draper comes a story full of heartache and hope. Get ready to meet a girl whose voice you'll never, ever forget.
This is a stunning story, and one of those books that, when read in childhood, become a part of your character. You really can't miss this one.
